Last week, Willett Public Affairs president & founder Perry M. Ochacher attended the SOMOS annual legislative conference in beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico. SOMOS is a nonprofit organization that unites the Latino community and advocates social consciousness on public policy in collaboration with the New York State Assembly and Senate Puerto Rican & Hispanic Task Force. The theme of this year's SOMOS conference was "Strengthening and Supporting Communities", with the primary goal of celebrating unity and harnessing the power of collective action, but SOMOS is much more than that. In many respects SOMOS has also become New York's premier, "off-site" political event, attended by power brokers, community leaders, and union officials who collectively help shape the direction of public policy in New York State.
Willett Public Affairs met, networked (and may we add, had a very good time) with many New York State legislators and staff, along with other government affairs professionals, trade association representatives, and union members at this year's SOMOS conference. Perry was proud to be at SOMOS and represent Willett's wonderful and growing roster of clients at this annual, must-attend political event!
